CORA has operated San Mateo County’s only safe houses for survivors of intimate partner abuse and their children continuously for the last 45 years. Our safe houses are:
- For all genders
- In a confidential location
- Culturally responsive
Safe house clients have access to trauma-support services to help empower them and restore a sense of safety and connectedness.
East Palo Alto (EPA) Program
CORA does community advocacy in the City of East Palo Alto (EPA), where our second office is located. EPA residents can access the following services for free:
- Community Advocacy
- Peer Counseling for Emotional Support
- Comprehensive Needs Assessment
- Psychoeducation
- Safety Planning
- Risk Assessment
- Crisis Intervention
- Follow-up Support
- Advocacy
- Referral to community-based resources
All of CORA’s other services are accessible to community members via referral by the EPA advocate.

YEA! Program
CORA’s YEA! Program focuses on dating violence prevention and intervention for youth. CORA supports youth through this program by:
- Providing confidential peer counseling
- Doing outreach to schools
- Providing educational material about healthy vs unhealthy relationships
- Giving youth referrals for more support when necessary
