To break the cycle of domestic violence and intimate partner abuse, CORA offers multiple programs dedicated to educating our community about safe and healthy relationships, how to seek help, how to assist others, and ways to build a strong family foundation to prevent domestic violence and abuse from occurring.
Our primary prevention efforts focus on supporting young children and families in the community who have not necessarily experienced domestic violence but seek to build a healthy, happy family. This program includes activities centered around healthy communication and working together, such as art projects, reading, and cooking together.
This program represents an expansion for CORA since 2023 into direct prevention-related community engagement.
Businesses play a unique and vital role in assisting survivors of abuse. Often, a victim may only have a chance to escape their abuser while running errands or visiting local establishments. Businesses are also in a unique position to support employees who may be experiencing abuse or domestic violence. CORA’s Education department and Speak Up program provide training to help businesses and their staff recognize, understand, and address abuse. We also offer workshops on specific topics, such as Domestic Violence Dynamics and Tech-enabled Abuse, tailored to your audience.
Stopping the cycle of violence often begins with educating youth. CORA partners with middle schools and high schools to provide presentations, workshops, and tools on healthy relationships. Youth are also provided with resources and information on how to get immediate help from CORA if they find themselves in an abusive relationship.
CORA does outreach in the community to raise awareness of our services for survivors of intimate partner abuse and provide referrals to those in need.
